A lecture on the history of Cypriot social movements, followed by a discussion around the artists’ works.
The lecture offered a first presentation of the emergence and evolution of post-1974 Greek Cypriot radical movements, from the consolidation of anarchist and socialist political groups and networks in the 1970s and 1980s to the Os Dame mass protests of 2021. The historical evolution of grassroots radical politics was presented through a schema highlighting three distinct periods of radical political activity (1974-1990s, 2000s-2013, 2013-2021), arguing that following the mass protests of 2021, a new distinct political period appears to be emerging within the radical movement.
